National Genetic Resources Center now called Bio Resources Conservation Institute (BCI) has an active Plant Genetic Resource Program for conservation and maintenance of plant varieties. The institute is responsible for a safe conservation of live propagating material of the protected varieties as a reference material. The institute shall provide propagating material of protected varieties to be used as reference material by FSC&RD in the DUS evaluation.
